AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants to Master of Music Performance must present a programme of minimum 15 minutes in length, with pieces that display a range of moods, styles and tempi. The programme must consist of a minimum of two works, demonstrating the fullest technical skills and musical flexibilities required at the postgraduate level.
Specific requirements for instruments/voice are as follows:

Piano
One of the works must be a fast movement from a piano sonata of the Classical era.

Voice
One of the works must be in Italian.
One of the works must be in German.
One of the works must be in English.
Remaining works can be in other languages such as Malay, Chinese, French, Latin, Spanish and others or   arias selected from an opera or oratorio.

Strings (Violin, viola, cello, double bass)
One of the works must be a solo movement from a sonata, partita or suite.
Applicants of instruments that are without specific requirements will follow the general audition requirements stated above.
Although memorisation of music is not required, applicants are strongly encouraged to memorise their music according to what would be expected in a public recital. For example, a solo movement from a violin partita is usually performed memorised, so does a piano sonata, while an oratorio is usually performed with music.

RECORDED AUDITION GUIDELINES
If an applicant chooses to submit recorded materials for the audition, the followings must be adhered to:

  • All pieces should be recorded and submitted as one continuous performance, with the total duration of minimum 15 minutes. No editing between pieces is allowed.
  • For all pieces with accompaniment, candidates are required to record them live with a pianist. A recorded accompaniment is only allowed for those unable to arrange for an accompanist due to the pandemic.
  • You should position your camera so that your face, hands and instrument are clearly visible. Take note that the position of your music stand should not obscure the view.
  • For singers, make sure that your face, hands, and most of the body are in shot.
