MU221 BACHELOR IN MUSIC COMPOSITION
PROGRAMME INFO
The Bachelor of Music Composition (Hons.) offers students a choice of concentration areas in either Popular Music or Art Music. This three-year programme will provide students with the opportunity to explore their musical ideas and own compositional voice through exposure to a diversity of musical style, theory and literature including orchestral techniques, counterpoint & tonal structure, new music, arranging, film scoring and music technology to name a few. Students will have the opportunity to study on selected principle instrument such as modern piano, bassoon, pergendangan melayu and double bass to name a few and engage with practical music performances such as modern music ensemble, Malay traditional music ensemble and orchestra. Towards the end of the six semesters, students will undergo a practicum programme locally or internationally (outbound mobility programme). Final portfolio (final juries) showcase on students music compositions marked the of the programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL
Applicants must pass an audition and interview conducted by the Faculty of Music and all applicants must pass the MUET Band 1.
The audition requires the applicant to:
1) Present two original music composition works inform of musical notation (full score or lead sheet) and with or without audio playback.
2) Display some awareness and knowledge in music scenes.
3) Undergo musical listening test.

STPM CANDIDATES
Pass STPM with at least three (3) principals including the General Paper or its equivalent AND Pass SPM with at least five (5) credits including Bahasa Malaysia and pass in English, Mathematics and History.
MATRICULATION CANDIDATES
Pass Matriculation with at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) including 3 other subjects AND Pass SPM/SPMV with at least five (5) credits including Bahasa Malaysia and pass in English, Mathematics and History.
UiTM DIPLOMA IN MUSIC CANDIDATES
Diploma in Music from UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 OR Diploma in Music from UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a minimum of 2 years of working experience in related fields.
OTHER DIPLOMA IN MUSIC CANDIDATES
Diploma from other institutions recognised by the government with a minimum CGPA 2.75
